September 26, 2017
RHD is honored to welcome Michael Twelftree, Proprietor and Managing Director of Two Hands Winery, as honorary chair for the 2017 Main Line Wine Gala at Philadelphia Country Club Oct. 18.
Two Hands is the only winery in the world recognized in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list for ten consecutive years. Master Chef Friedrich Gitschner will design a four-course meal to highlight each pairing introduced by Michael at this year’s Gala, which celebrates the world’s most innovative winemakers in an event that benefits RHD’s innovative human services.
The Philadelphia Country Club, a first-time host for the Gala, Philadelphia Country Club is home to a tradition that began in 1890 when a group of prominent Philadelphians, led by John C. Bullitt, came together to create what would become the finest Country Club in the Tri-state area. Philadelphia Country Club is highly regarded throughout the area, and in the Country Club community, as a premier club.
Michael will present the vineyards top wines including the Flagship Series Ares Shiraz. In 2004, Robert Parker pronounced Two Hands as “the finest negociant operation south of the equator.” Two Hands was recognized by Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list for ten consecutive years beginning in 2002, an achievement without equal by any winery in the world.
The Main Line Wine Gala celebrates the biggest names in the world of wine. Past Honorary Chairs include Alessia Antinori from Italy, Marcus Notaro from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and Laurent Drouhin from France.
This year’s Gala will benefit four RHD programs: The Center for Creative Works, Healing Ajax, CHOC and La Casa. The Center for Creative Works provides creative workforce development and professional art instruction for adults with developmental disabilities. Healing Ajax provides counseling and support services for returning veterans. La Casa provides housing and recovery services for young adults who are homeless.
Since 1970, Resources for Human Development has provided compassionate care and support for people of all abilities. Those we serve rely on the generosity and support of people who believe that every person, no matter what challenges they face, should be treated with dignity and have the opportunity to develop their full potential. The Main Line Wine Gala will help create brighter futures for others, and allow RHD to continue developing caring, effective and innovative programs that support people as they build better lives for themselves.
Michael Twelftree came to the wine industry from a construction background after developing his passion over many years attending wine tastings and founded Two Hands Wines in 1999. With a flair for marketing and creativity, Michael is always injecting fresh ideas and constantly nutting out new ways to keep the brand evolving.
