RHD Iowa Drug Court Housing First Program
RHD Iowa’s Drug Court Housing First program provides Housing First model services to individuals sentenced to the Linn County Drug Treatment Court. This program is a partnership with the Iowa 6th Judicial Department of Corrections under a SAMHSA grant.
RHD provides housing case management services that incorporate the principles of the Housing First Model. Housing First is an approach to quickly and successfully connect individuals to housing without preconditions and barriers to entry, such as participation in treatment and refraining from substance use. The Housing Specialist assists program participants with initial housing search and provides ongoing support to program participants to maintain community living status and successfully complete the requirements of Drug Treatment Court. It is also the responsibility of the RHD DTC Housing staff to work collaboratively with local landlords and property managers to develop secure, stable, safe, and affordable housing opportunities. This position works collaboratively with other staff members from DTC and other involved providers to ensure an integrated team approach in supporting the program participant in their recovery.
