RHD COVID-19 Vaccine Response & Overview

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is committed to doing everything possible to ensure the health, safety, and overall well-being of our staff and those we serve during the COVID-19 crisis. Creating environments that meet this goal, as well as promoting continued personal and professional enrichment, is an RHD Value that has never been more critical. With the recent rollout of the COVID vaccines, there are signs the pandemic has turned a hopeful corner.

In the United States, there are currently three major pharmaceutical companies offering the COVID-19 vaccine: Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. While recognizing and encouraging COVID-19 vaccinations as one of the most important tools to end the pandemic, RHD supports that vaccination is a personal choice for our employees and consumers and has no mandate currently in place for compulsory vaccinations.

RHD supports the equitable and safe distribution of the vaccine and is following CDC recommendations of federal, state, and local governments for a phased rollout. RHD programs across the country partner with the federal government, funders, local organizations, and pharmacies to provide staff and consumers access to the vaccine during the appropriate phases. While the CDC makes recommendations for who should be offered the COVID-19 vaccine first, each state establishes its own phase classifications and plans for distribution.

The RHD Vaccine Committee, comprised of representatives from each state/region and service line throughout the organization, monitors and discusses the latest news, protocols, and recommendations from the CDC around the COVID-19 vaccine. Committee members also provide weekly updates to the organization during COVID-19 town hall meetings. In the Philadelphia area, the primary care clinical staff at the Family Practice and Counseling Network (FPCN), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and division of RHD, adapted quickly to offer COVID-19 testing and access to the vaccine, while continuing to deliver primary care, behavioral health, dental, and preventive services to the community.

Nationwide, RHD continues to consult with healthcare professionals, primary care physicians, and other medical personnel to provide education, information, and access to the vaccine to staff and qualifying consumers.

For 50 years and counting, RHD has delivered the highest-quality services to people of all abilities, while meeting the changing needs during extraordinary circumstances. Although COVID-19 has provided unprecedented challenges worldwide, RHD continues to work to provide care, resources, and compassion to all of the communities we touch—now and for the next 50-plus years. Together we’re better.
