A day on, not a day off

At RHD, we celebrate Martin Luther King Day with a day on, not a day off -- our employees are part of the MLK Day of Service, and we try to work to help make our community a better place.

We'll have arts and crafts and storybook hour for dozens of children visiting our offices Monday. A group will go to Stepping Stones, a specialized education program for children, and make and paint murals to decorate the building. We'll be having a spa day at Woodstock Family Center, our shelter for homeless mothers and children, where the ladies at Woodstock can have hair and makeup sessions. And we'll be hosting a resume workshop for people looking to sharpen their skills and be better prepared to find a job.

We'll also have a march around the neighborhood, and make a trip to LOVE Park to feed the hungry.

As Dr. King said: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?"

    Mr. Fishman,
I knew that all my studies in organizational management and leadership were actually practiced somewhere. Resources for Human Development comes closest to the team atmosphere I have been searching for since graduating from my master's program in 2001.In a recent Facebook post, Mary Slatter Russell made Public Allies Delaware Alumni aware of your open house on March 30th. Thank you for modeling the true heart of service and I look forward to learning so much more about RHD!
