RHD is a values-driven organization that is continually in the process of redefining its corporate values. All employees are invited to participate in ongoing dialogues to challenge and improve our work culture. We do not merely encourage all members of the corporation to support and promote the organizational values, we require that they do so.
We believe that RHD demonstrates its commitment to employees by listening and responding to employee concerns. Our experience has shown that when employees deal openly and directly with each other, the work environment is significantly better, communications are clear, and attitudes remain positive.
Eligible employees of RHD are provided a wide range of benefits. A number of such benefits, such as Social Security, Worker's Compensation, and Unemployment Insurance cover all employees. Further benefit eligibility is dependent upon a variety of factors including salary level and job status.
The RHD Fairshare Plan gives you a defined contribution towards the purchase of your benefit coverage. This defined contribution is a percentage of your salary and may have an additional dollar contribution. The amount of the contribution is based on the unit you work for and that unit's budget. The Fairshare plan defined contribution is referred to as your "benefit dollars". Coverage from your benefit dollars includes your choice of health and welfare benefits and/or a taxable cash addition to your paycheck.
RHD encourages its employees to save for retirement through the Tax Sheltered Annuity (403b). It is done with payroll deductions by either utilizing the identified brokerage investment company or by self-directing your investment into one of the funds that RHD has set up in our payroll system. All payroll reductions are pre-tax (Federal and FICA) savings and tax-deferred earning.
RHD's central office in Philadelphia houses an employee-owned and operated federal credit union which was created to serve all RHD emplyees and their families. Once an individual becomes a member, he or she may remain a member even if no longer employed by RHD. Current services offered are regular share accounts and loans. All accounts are insured by the FDIC.
RHD has an employee assistance program called Helping Hands. This is a problem-solving service, which prides itself on providing free and/or low-cost counseling for employees and their families.
Miniversity is an internal educational program designed for employees of RHD. There are a wide variety of courses available such as Human Services Skills, Supervisor Training, Computer Skills and even Cooking Classes. Most courses are free of charge for RHD employees and certificates of completion are given.
Scholarships and low interest loans are made available by RHD to qualified employees toward the cost of education. The funding for educational assistance is provided by the corporation and is based on the availability of funds each year and is allocated on a first come/first served basis.
