Many RHD programs are funded by city, state and Federal departments. For example:
- Long-term living programs for adults
with mental retardation in many states
- Shelters and other programs for
mentally ill homeless individuals in Philadelphia
- Employment and job training programs
in the Philadelphia area
- Home ownership opportunities for
low and moderate income first-time home buyers in Philadelphia
and Gloucester City, New Jersey
- Health centers for residents of
public housing in Philadelphia
- and many others
Other RHD programs are funded by gifts from foundations, corporations and individuals. For example:
- Endow-A-Home, providing permanent
homes and social work services for homeless mothers and children
- Artreach, enabling disadvantaged
and disabled adults and children to experience music, dance, theater
and museum opportunities
- Compeer, matching volunteer friends
to people with mental illness who live in the community
- Environmental Air Force, providing
pro bono aviation services by volunteer pilots to conservation
and environmental organizations
- Prison Literacy Project, coordinating
community volunteers to tutor inmates and many others
Currently, RHD operates on an annual budget of more than $112 million. |
