Resources for Human Development has been serving adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and helping them lead more fulfilling lives since 1972, when it established the Lower Merion Vocational Training Center.

Today, RHD offers dozens of programs, both daylong and residential services, that include a variety of effective and innovative approaches, such as creative arts therapies, the companion model and more. Community-based programs such as On Our Own and On Our Way are specifically tailored to adults and children with autism and related behaviors, supporting their ability to develop life skills and achieve independence.

At the center of each program is RHD's belief that people of all abilities are of equal worth, deserving of respect and dignity. RHD is always looking for better ways to help our partners live morefulfilling and independent lives. If you are too, talk to us. All the programs listed below assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Please clink on the links for more information.

'I'm an artist'

RHD arts programs broaden the horizons of people with intellectual disabilities, give them an outlet for creativity and self-expression and offer them the tools to define themselves as artists. Read about Dave and Jeremy and the cutting-edge work being done at RHD's arts programs in Boston and Rhode Island.

RHD is a preferred partner of state and local governments. Our decentralization philosophy encourages individual decision-making and allows staff members to quickly and creatively extend support.

Every RHD program is designed to include family and friends. Support from loved ones is vital, and we treasure your trust to let us help. If you or someone you love could benefit from our intellectual disabilities services, don’t hesitate to let us know.

Government partners, support coordinators, families and caregivers come to RHD with needs but also ideas. We’ll work with you to create a valuable new program or to expand and improve a program to do even better.

Take advantage of our unique, innovative approach to human services, and put our experience and enthusiasm to work for you.
