Resources for Human Development has been serving adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and helping them lead more fulfilling lives since 1972, when it established the Lower Merion Vocational Training Center.

Today, RHD offers dozens of programs, both daylong and residential services, that include a variety of effective and innovative approaches, such as creative arts therapies, the companion model and more. Community-based programs such as On Our Own and On Our Way are specifically tailored to adults and children with autism and related behaviors, supporting their ability to develop life skills and achieve independence.

RHD specializes in creating solutions to a wide variety of community challenges. RHD's Mainstay services, for example, provide supervised community-based residential program designed to provide a range of established and innovative rehabilitation strategies for adults with developmental disabilities and problematic sexual behaviors who are in need of clinical/forensic treatment. The program focuses on community and personal safety, accountability, competence, least restrictive alternative, normalization, due process and control.

'I'm an artist'

RHD arts programs broaden the horizons of people with intellectual disabilities, give them an outlet for creativity and self-expression and offer them the tools to define themselves as artists. Read about Dave and Jeremy and the cutting-edge work being done at RHD's arts programs for people with intellectual disabilities.

At the center of each program is RHD's belief that people of all abilities are of equal worth, deserving of respect and dignity. RHD is always looking for better ways to help our partners live more fulfilling and independent lives. If you are too, talk to us.
