Reach-In C.A.R.E. (Correction, Addiction, Recovery, Empowerment) provides services to adult women who have been arrested and/or convicted of offenses directly related to their use of drugs and/or alcohol, who are housed at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. RHD administers Reach-In C.A.R.E on behalf of the Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority. Services provided are substance abuse education and motivational enhancement strategies for treatment to women/inmates at the jail. Reach-In C.A.R.E. also provides intensive case management services to those women/inmates who participate in the jail-based substance abuse program while transitioning back into the community. Supports include substance abuse education groups, counseling, advocacy, assistance with arrangements for housing, employment, probation/court appearances and linkage to treatment. The aim of services is to enhance the quality of life for the women and to promote and support individual recovery utilizing an empowerment, strengths based approach.
