The RHD Youth and Family Team is a High Fidelity Wraparound Program that serves Philadelphia youth ages 13-16 and their families. The youth are referred to the team by the Youth Study Center, and must be first offenders, found eligible for a court diversion program, and have a history of serious behavioral health issues. RHD’s Youth and Family team is one of 11 such teams in Pennsylvania supported by the Youth and Family Training Institute in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh. The Youth and Family Team is unique because it includes a Family Support Partner, a staff with personal experience raising a child with complex emotional needs, and a Youth Support Partner, who is a young adult with previous personal experience with behavioral health issues and/or the juvenile justice system. The team also includes a Coach/Supervisor and two Facilitators, who insure the process is successful and meets the High Fidelity Wraparound evidence-based criteria set by the Youth and Family Training Institute.
The Youth and Family Team will assist the family and youth in attaining their goals, identifying their internal and external strengths and natural supports, and in meeting the mandated requirements of the YSC’s court diversion program.
